When He Doesn't Want your Jesus, Part 2

1 Peter 3:2
"...when they see the purity and reverence of your lives."

(Please note:  If your husband is doing something illegal or immoral...  If you are being abused in any way, shape or form - please seek professional counsel.)

When your man doesn't want to know your Jesus...  It is NOT YOUR PROBLEM.   He's not your project.  He's not your mission field in the sense of carrying the responsibility of changing his heart.

He's God's issue.  He is on God's mission field.  He's God's problem.

Your responsibility, however is for your man to see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Recently, I looked to see what the Amplified translation says concerning the word reverence.  Read the following slowly.  Note the words describing reverence.  Each one are action verbs.

"When they observe the pure and modest way in which you conduct yourselves, together with your reverence [for your husband; you are to feel for him all that reverence includes:
to respect,
defer to,
revere him - to honor,
esteem,
appreciate,
prize,
and in the human sense to adore him, that is to admire, praise,
be devoted to,
deeply love and
enjoy your husband."

And don't forget from yesterday's post, these intentional behaviors on our part, are focused on the man who is intentionally walking in disobedience.  (1 Peter 3:1)

Did you get that?

He's probably not behaving in a way that we think of deserving. He may even rub us like sandpaper.

So naturally, our inclination is to withhold love, sex, respect, adoration.  We fail to esteem, prize and appreciate.

Yet, as wives, our responsibility is obedience to God's Word.  That's it!

God's responsibility is heart CHANGE.  Oh and girlfriend - when the heart changes - the behavior changes, the motives change, everything changes...

You can't do this.  Only God can change a heart.

Let him go.  He's not your responsibility.

Next Post:  Did you note the phrase "you are to feel for him all that reverence includes."
What if you're not feelin' it?
