Fun for the Little Girls and the Big Girls!

Take a look at the FUN we are going to have Sunday night!

When I told my daughter about these yummy delights - and the fun craft we were going to do Sunday night - (never mind that her boring mom has anything to say!)... THIS is what sold her!

Mother/Daughter Event
August 24th; 6:30-8:30pm
Hope Community Church, Morrisville
Click HERE  to register.

I'll be sharing 3 Tips for Girls to Start the School Year Right!

The two hour evening will include:
  • Mother Daughter photos,
  • 1 Girl Nation Music and Video
  • 2 Age Appropriate Messages,
  • Awesome girly crafts and it wouldn't be a party without:
  • Cupcakes!
  • Give-Aways!
I'll also be teaching the girls, step by step - workshop style, how to use this little journal - ultimately helping them either begin or grow their love walk with Jesus.  Jesus - the most important friendship any of us could ever have.

I held this same workshop with a group of middle school girls from my daughter's school on Thursday night.   They seemed to REALLY enjoy the hands-on workshop.  They were all so engaged to everything I shared.  It was fun to watch their hungry little hearts at work.  (Moms came too!)

On Sunday evening, between the 2 thirty minute, interactive message sessions, girls will do a craft (seen below)!  How cool is that?!

And eat cupcakes that look like this!

It's going to be a TON of fun!

Don't miss this opportunity to form a special memory with your tween/teen age daughter(s)!

Can't wait to see you there:)

We loved seeing you again
and
meeting many of you for the first time.
We pray you were blessed and will be back next month with a friend!

We realize that women had to make the hard choice between both workshops.  Below was the outline for the panel discussion.  Enjoy!

What a Mentoring Friendship Looks Like –
Panel Discussion

When you are the Mentee
1.  Realize your need.  (Titus 2)
2.  Begin  praying.
3.  Be proactive in asking.
4.  Realize you are in a safe place
5.  Be willing to hear truth – even when it’s hard.  Your mentor loves you.

When you are the one Mentoring -
1.  Make yourself available.
2.  You must be a woman who can keep confidences without judgment.
3.  Realize you don’t have to be an expert in Bible.
4.  You must be a good listener.    Ask good questions.
5.  When they finish talking – it will be your turn to speak truth into their lives.
6.  Realize you don’t have to have all the answers.
7.  Pray with them and for them.  Pray that you will hear the Father’s heart in “this” matter.
8.  Where to mentor?  Dining Room table; Quiet restaurant or coffee shop (as long as you are not too loud!)

August Workshop Choices!

Workshop 1:
What does a Mentoring Friendship Look Like?  Panel Discussion

Panel Participants:  Lindsey Wingo, Judy Roberts, Melody Merritt, Tara Furman

Titus 2 tells women...
"Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God.
They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers.
Instead, they should teach others what is good.
These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes,
to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands.
Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

The Word is clear, we should all have an older women (spiritually or physically older) speaking into our lives.  Yet many MISS the blessing and value of this special friendship.

In this workshop, you will see there is not a one size fits all mentoring friendship.  You will hear from women who are actively mentoring and from women who have been mentored... This will enable you to determine what might work best for your life and schedule.

Workshop #2:
"Help!  I'm Leading a Bible Study"     Leader:  Autumn Weikert

Have you ever been asked to lead a Bible study but had NO IDEA where to start?

In this workshop, you will receive:

  • Practical instruction of the basic concepts for leading a small group including ideal group size.
  • How to create an atmosphere for spiritual growth and transparency.
  • Relationship building ideas for the women in your group.
You no longer have to feel as if you're winging it - but can know how to lead with God confidence - whether in the church or in your community.

WE are super excited about Friday!!!

Reality Check...

Ephesians 6:18
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

As one group of saints gather on Friday for a Luncheon in a beautiful location - another group in Iraq are running for their lives due to the advancement of ISIS.   Christian families in Iraqi cities are now being forced to choose:  covert, leave or die.

Many believers are leaving their homes, their business and their way of life.  In one article, I read,  "They are killing people who refuse to say that Mohammad is greater than Jesus."

Believers leaving Mosul

What resolve.  What amazing courage.

I realize persecution is not new...  It's happening daily in places like China, North Korea, Iran, Egypt and many other places.  But for some reason, this story ever since I read about it a few weeks ago strikes a cord.  Maybe it's because I wonder if my family and I would be as bold...  I'd like to think so...

On Friday, Knowing God Ministries will be relaunching the luncheon many of us have come to enjoy.  If you've been to the luncheons in the past - you will find many similarities.  But there will be many differences as well.  (Tomorrow's post)

So as we gather, do we truly realize how blessed we are to live in a country where we can come together and freely speak the name of Jesus?

We don't worry about being arrested or being killed because of our faith.  We will eat good food and hear great messages that (God willing) will transform and change our lives if we'll allow!  (Which is very cool!!!)

Despite the excitement, my heart is heavy as I think about what our brothers and sisters.  And worse, I feel inadequate to do anything of real value for them - except pray.  And according to the Bible, this is where we can partner with God and make a difference in helping these people.

How do we pray?
  • Ask God to remind us to pray and
  • Show us how to pray - (the Holy Spirit will show us!)
  • Certainly pray in your prayer closet - but make quick, brief prayers your habit as you do life such while folding laundry; doing dishes; driving down the road; working out, etc...
We may not see the answer to our prayers this side of eternity, but  the Word tells us our prayers make a difference in someone else's reality.    (Want a cool reality about prayer?  Check out Revelation 5:8)

IT'S TIME for Luncheon Relaunch!

"It's a mini retreat each month..."
"Words of encouragement are always shared..."
"I can take away a Biblical truth even if the topic is not for my stage in life..."

Last spring, we pulled together women in all seasons of life and asked them what they wanted...  What was important to them...

The statements above were phrases our Focus Group used to describe the luncheons.

After listening to their feedback...  With much prayer and planning - We are super excited to unveil:

In an effort to describe the new direction, we've given answers to possible questions.

How is the new luncheon different and what does the Luncheon include?
The Luncheon now includes:
  • Lunch from Huge Soup and Salad Bar;
  • Dessert;
  • An anointed Speaker who shares her testimony and practical Biblical suggestions for everyday life as it relates to the given topic;
  • Fellowship with like-minded women and
  • At least 2 workshops to choose from each month!
Where is the Luncheon located?
MacGregor Downs Country Club
430 St. Andrews Lane
Cary, NC

What time does it start?

We want to be very careful with the time so that YOUR time is respected.

The doors will open at 11:00.  The General Session program will begin at 11:30 and end at 1:00pm.  We are opening the doors early for fellowship and so you do not feel rushed finding a seat or extra time for eating.

The workshops will begin at 1:15 and end promptly at 2:00pm.

How often will the Luncheon Event take place?

Mark your calendars NOW for:
  • September 19th
  • October 17th
  • November 21st
  • December 12th
It's the 3rd Friday of every month EXCEPT December.

How much does it cost and what's included?
The event cost is $24.  Remember it's not just lunch!

You do not pay extra for the workshop options.  The price is the same if you stay for a workshop or not.

Why the price increase from last season?
The cost of goods have increased.  In the past, the ministry absorbed the increase without passing it along.

In addition to the raw cost of goods for food, we have to pay taxes and a 20%+ gratuity.  There is a room usage fee.  We pay the speakers.  We also have to pay for outline copies that go with the General Session or workshop (which we keep to a minimum).  Table decorations are often generously donated.

What if the price of the Event exceeds my budget?
Each month, we will offer a certain numer of partial scholarships.  If you are in need of a scholarship, there will be a place to indicate this in the registration process.

How do I register?
Although we will accept walk-in registration, it will be much more cost efficient for you to register online during the Early Bird registration.  Are you on our invitation list???  If not, click HERE to be added.

Will I feel awkward walking in if I'm coming by myself?
Absolutely NOT!  We learned from the Focus Group that we needed to be more intentional with people who are attending for the first time.   Taking their advice, we have made adjustments so that women coming alone - for the first time - will feel expected and welcomed!

Why is it hosted at a Country Club and not a church?
One of our goals is to reach ALL women - regardless of denomination.  We are concerned that if we have it in a denominational location - it will become a denominational event.

The focus group told us they LIKED coming to this location each month.  They did not feel like it was a threatening environment, but enjoyed treating themselves.

What should I wear?
Anything but denim.  This is a private club and we want to be good stewards by adhereing to their dress code.

Who is speaking in August?

Proverbs 31 Speaker,
Amy Carroll!

More details to come in the invitation, Wednesday, August 6th.    Be looking for it!

Are you on our invitation list???  If not, click HERE to be added.

Did we answer YOUR questions???  If not, send us your question in an email.  We'll answer it in a future blog post.  Surely if you have a question - others may have the same one too!

Hope to see you NEXT FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th at the new and improved and face-lifted Luncheon Event!
